PRESIDENT LETTER

Dear Colleagues,

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the 37th National Congress of the Italian Society of Pharmacology.
The Congress venue is one of the largest convention centres in Naples, the Royal Continental Hotel, with a spectacular view stretching from Mount Vesuvius to Posillipo.
Although it is not the first time that Naples will host our Congress – let’s remember the meetings in 1982, 1992 and 2005 – it is for me an honour and a privilege to organize this event, that has become an important appointment that cannot be missed by all those are interested in pharmacological research.
The Congress is aimed to bring together an extensive variety of specialists in the pharmacology fields. The purpose is to provide an overview of the latest developments covering the most timely and significant advances in basic, clinical, and translational research and to facilitate and promote
an interactive dialogue among academia, industry, public and private health sectors and institutions.
The 2015 program offers plenary lectures given by leading international experts. These events are scheduled at “prime time”, with no overlap with other activities.
The congress agenda includes several invited symposia, round table debates, oral and poster scientific presentations that will cover the Congress themes. In particular, discussed topics include basic pharmacology and its clinical application, but also focus on innovation, clinical trials, pharmacovigilance and personalized medicine.
In keeping with one of the major SIF’s mission to encourage and support young generation, a significant space has been reserved to junior researchers to promote their visibility and create the opportunity to meet experts in the field, to encourage discussion, collaboration, and interchange of ideas between.
This year, for the first time, with the “Lifetime Achievement Award” we will recognize one of our colleagues who have dedicated their lives to pharmacology with constant passion and effort.
Finally, I would like to wish you that, in addition to the exceptional scientific experience, you will find
time to relax and enjoy the beauties of Naples.
On behalf of the Council of the Italian Society of Pharmacology and the Organizing Committee, I wish you all a proficous meeting.

Welcome to Naples.
Francesco Rossi
