Abstract
Projects of active pharmacovigilance, agreed between the Lombardy Region and the Italian Medicine Agency (AIFA) in 2008, have aimed not only at increasing the reporting rate (objective fully achieved, as the Lombardy now has a rate of more than 800 reports per million of inhabitants), but also at involving networks of clinicians in assessing the safety of drug used.
The projects have had a considerable success and allowed a greater connection between clinicians and pharmacologists.
In the presentation, the projects on the detection of adverse reactions in emergency room, oncology, haematology, pediatrics, dermatology, poison control center will be discussed; in particular relevant strengths and weaknesses that have emerged will be assessed Overall, the projects put forwards by the Lombardy Region have produced excellent results and many project are currently being extended nationwide.
