Abstract
The approval of the directive2010/63/UE is an opportunity for reflection on the use of animals in experimental research. The use of animals is essential and their use have to be ethical and responsible. Good management of the facilities can and must seek to ensure attention to ethical criteria, the rationalization of resources, good scientific research. These objectives are more easily achievable if the management of the facilities is done with good levels of quality. The CSSI, interdepartmental center facilities University of Modena and Reggio Emilia and the animal Care Unit dell'IRF Mario Negri Institute in Milan have found it to be a viable implementation of a quality management system (also certified) according to ISO 9001:2008. Convinced of the importance of collaboration, exchanges of information, know-how and experience, and thinking it was a decisive step towards the improvement ,we  have proposed the creation of a network of enclosures (MoMIT) that respond to some common requirements ("to speak the same language ") and that can work together. The Network can help standardize the behavior, to rationalize resources, and to dialogue with the authorities and public opinion, even more so when important step towards the European Directive.
